You're here because student debt is a thing in your life, and you want straight answers instead of a sales pitch. Good. So are we.

DebtStudent.com exists for one reason: to help millennials and Gen Z actually manage and survive student debt. Not to lecture you. Not to shame you for borrowing. Not to pretend a fancy infographic and a motivational quote will fix a $30,000 balance. Just useful, pragmatic, sensible advice you can remember and use the same day you read it.
Who We're For

We write for Americans between 18 and 45 who are dealing with student loans — before college, during it, right after graduation, or fifteen years in when the balance still won't budge. Whether you went to a public university, a private school, a community college, a trade program, or a graduate program, you'll find something here. Whether you borrowed $5,000 or $150,000, you're welcome.

You might be a first generation student trying to figure out what the FAFSA even is. You might be a parent cosigning on a PLUS loan. You might be a 34-year-old who has been on autopilot with income driven repayment for years and has no idea if it's working. All of that is our lane.
What We Believe

Debt is a math problem, not a moral failing. Borrowing for education was a rational decision made in a system that made it nearly unavoidable. We're not here to tell you that you shouldn't have taken out loans. We're here to help you handle the ones you have.

Boring beats clever. A budget you actually keep beats a perfect one you abandon in three weeks. An extra $50 a month toward principal beats a complicated side hustle you quit in a month. Small, repeatable moves win.

Know your numbers. You should know your total balance, your interest rates, your servicer, and your repayment plan. That knowledge is power, and it's usually free.

Free help exists — use it. Your loan servicer, your employer, your state, and legitimate nonprofits all offer options. You should almost never pay a company to do something you can do yourself.

Life still happens. You still get to travel. You still get to eat food you enjoy. You still get to build savings, invest for retirement, and buy a car without guilt. Managing debt does not mean putting your entire life on hold for a decade.

How We Present Our Content

Plain English. Short sentences. No jargon dumps, no condescension, no "simply" or "just" before something that is neither simple nor just. If a term matters, we'll define it. If a number matters, we'll show you where it came from. If something is genuinely hard or unfair, we'll say so instead of blaming you for it.

We also don't do hype. No "one weird trick." No guarantees. No promises that a single spreadsheet will change your life. Just the honest version of what works, what doesn't, and what's worth your time.
A Note on Advice

We're an educational resource, not your financial advisor, accountant, or attorney. We give general information, not personalized recommendations. For decisions that affect your specific situation — especially bankruptcy, tax liability, or legal disputes — talk to a qualified professional. Many are free. We'll help you find them.
